Apple Have A Back Up iPhone 4G And Official Launch Is In Mid-June

DigiTimes has an interesting questions and answers feature up on it’s site from one of its analysts. According to their sources, there is a back up iPhone 4G, which is more like the 3GS but with a hardware bump up. The reason being, in case of major production disruption for the new iPhone 4G that could be caused by it’s new design, display and camera. Gizmodo are also saying that they’ve heard it from a source at AT&T that the iPhone will be launched in Mid-June

Very few people within Apple knew about the iPhone 4G until it was leaked, it carries the pre-production number of N90 but rumor has it Apple has another device with pre-production number N91. This is apparently the back up plan iPhone for Apple.

The leaked iPhone 4G had a tag that said “N90,” which is the internal development codename for the iPhone 4G, and very few people outside the company knew about it prior to the leak.

On a side note, Apple initiated the iPhone 4G project at the end of 2008. According to our sources, Apple actually has another product codenamed N91 for the project, which offers less change from previous iPhones compared with the N90. It’s a parallel product to back up the N90 in case there are major delays due to significant modifications in casing, display resolution, digital camera support and so forth.

But wait, there’s even more! Apparently Apple could have a third device, recently details in an iPhone SDK discovered reference to an internal model number of N89, the iPhone 3GS carries N88.

Could this possible be a different Apple device or iPhone? Or Maybe it’s the iPhone destined for Verizon. According to this analyst that’s due to be released the end of this year or in 2011.

And one last thing, Apple decided not to put OLED screens in it’s next Gen iPhone due to performance issues and costs.

So What do you think all these other internal production model numbers mean?
