AT&T announced that they would waiver the early termination fee for contracts ending this year so users could upgrade to the iPhone 4 at no extra cost.
Following that idea, O2 UK has today announced it’ll allow current customers to pay off the remainder of their contracts at a discounted rate if they choose to upgrade the iPhone 4 when it’s released later this month. The terms are simple, no matter what package you’re currently on, O2 will charge you a flat rate of £20 ($29) for each leftover month.
Since most packages are over £30 a month, and that’s generally what you pay for each leftover month for early terminations, you are getting a 30% discount depending on your package.
Not quite as good as AT&T’s deal, but it’s better than nothing. Only thing is you lose your 14 day free return period, but somehow I don’t think you’ll be wanting to return an iPhone 4
