Bloomberg has reported today that Steve Jobs knew all along that the iPhone 4 would experience antenna issues thanks to it’s new design.
Citing an anonymous source, Bloomberg reported on Thursday that last year Ruben Caballero, a senior engineer and antenna expert with Apple, told management at Apple that the design of the iPhone 4 could cause reception problems. Specifically, it said that Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs was warned of the issues during the design phase of the iPhone 4.
Not only did Apple’s engineers warn them about the flaw, but a partner carrier also informed Apple that antenna issues would occur thanks to this new design. But obviously Apple refused to listen to those who knew best, and went ahead anyway with the new design.
While Apple’s new design for antennas blew us away at WWDC, we didn’t think that any issues would result, or certainly not to the degree that they have.
We’ll just have to wait and see what Steve has to say tomorrow at the press conference
