Want To Make Facetime Calls Over 3G? Now You Can

You’ve probably heard about the recent introduction of Facetime in the iPhone 4. This is Apples own video calling platform. When Steve announced it at WWDC it was well welcomed by the media as we’ve been expecting this for a long time now. However there was a few snags, it only works with the iPhone 4, and it only works over Wi-Fi for now.

So it’s fairly limited, but what if there was a way to make it work over 3G? Well now there’s an app for that!

Those of you familiar with Jailbreaking will know off a little app called 3G Unrestrictor, it’s available on Cydia, which is the app store for all you rebels who jailbreak your iPhones. What it does is trick your iPhone into thinking it’s on a Wi-Fi connection when in fact you are only on a 3G one. This then allows you to carry out functions over 3G which normally require a Wi-Fi connection ie. Facetime!

So you can not only use this to run Facetime, but it also works with apps like Skype, Youtube and the iTunes store.

3G Unrestrictoris $2.99 from the Cydia App Store but remember, Facetime uses a lot of data, so you could find yourself racking up quite a hefty data bill if your not careful.
