iPhone 4 Bursting Into Flames, Anyone Else?

I’m sure some of you may have heard this story before when it first emerged about a month ago. Apparently one users iPhone 4 decided to burst into flames as it was being charged and as a result it fried the USB cable and scorched the pin dock connector at the bottom of the phone.

BGR reports that a customer brought back this iPhone 4 to an AT&T store to try and get help with it.

Now there haven’t been to many other reports like this, but it’s pretty shocking to think that it could happen. The customer reported that the iPhone bezel became extremely hot in their hand, and burnt them slightly before it allegedly burst into flames.

Several other people have reported that they’ve experienced their iPhone 4′s heating up and getting really hot. So what could be causing it? Well it may possible have something to do with the location of the iPhone 4′s antennas. Yes of course we have to get Steve’s famous Antennas involved in the story.

The charging dock is located smack bang in the middle of these antennas and we suspect there may be a serious bug in the charging algorithm. Also if the phone is in use, and using the network, while been charged, there’s lots of currents flowing around which could cause the device to heat up fairly quick.

Now be aware that not many cases (pretty much none) have been reported where the iPhone 4 bursts into flames, but we did have the odd one in the past with the iPhone 3GS. The white models of which would discolor to pink sometimes becuase they got so hot.

So has anyone else experienced an major heat issues with their iPhone 4′s? Let us know in the comments
