Apple introduced some useful improvements in its iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion, but the company has not mentioned anything about the launch of its fifth-generation iPhone at WWDC.
The tech giant has a hesitating attitude in regard to the release of the iPhone 5 and this does not bring any advantage to the company, on the contrary. Without a new iPhone 5 on the market, more and more users could fall into the temptation of buying an Android smartphone instead of waiting (for how long?) for Apple’s next smartphone to hit the stores. The offer is here, customers can choose from a plethora of Android-based devices, and another army of them will be released in the near future.

Rumors about iPhone 5 have flooded the market, literally. Some suggest Apple’s next smartphone could have an edge-to-edge display, an 8MP camera, NFC capabilities and perhaps a better battery, while others expect iPhone 5 to just copy some of the features offered by Android devices. iPhone 5 is rumored to incorporate an ARM Cortex-A9 processor and offer GSM and CDMA compatibility, AppleInsider reported. Yet an ominous silence rules in Apple’s camp.
Let’s switch to the rival Android camp and browse a bit their offer. HTC Sensation 4G, Samsung Gravity Smart and Samsung Exhibit 4G will hit the market at T-Mobile in June. Sprint will offer HTC Evo 3D, Motorola XPRT and Motorola Titanium in the near future as well, to name just a few. Also, the imposing Samsung Galaxy S II is already snagging quite a big number of orders.
But when will Apple release its iPhone 5? Again, no reliable information is available, but the company could start production in late July or early August so that customers could finally enjoy the long-awaited smartphone in September, rumors suggest.
One question remains unanswered: why is Apple keeping all this silence over iPhone 5? Is the company having second thoughts about its launch? Are there any production issues involved? Or is it all just a marketing strategy?
