Are you a Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE:TWC) subscriber? Well if so, you should definitely want in on the new holiday season deal. Samsung took it upon itself to enter in a special partnership with the cable provider, by offering the Galaxy Tabs to both new and already existing customers. All they need to do in order to receive the additional gift, is upgrade their services to specific packages. As we mentioned in an article last week, Samsung Galaxy Tablets will be a hot item on most holiday shoppers list this year, so it seems only convenient for Time Warner Cable to embellish customers’ wishes.
With the offer lasting into 2014, let’s take a look at the possible client – and company – benefits that could come from this deal. Take last year’s Twitter deal as an example:
Choosing better service is rewarded
Now, the main point in the Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE:TWC) promotion, is to get customers to upgrade their service. So, any client that signs up for a package like the Ultimate High Speed Internet, will be rewarded with a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, worth $200. For those reaching even further into their wallets and willing to install the SignatureHome Premium View will be compensated with an even better product: the Galaxy Note 8.0 Tablet (worth $399).
An effort to expand
Although this holiday promotion benefits Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE:TWC) consumers, it’s also the perfect opportunity for the company to expand. And the same goes for Samsung. The Korean technology giant has already overpowered Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) in the smartphone market, and it recently declared its intentions of attacking the tablet sector. But, with tablet sales in 2013 scraping 40 million, Samsung will have to work hard to reach its goal of surpassing Apple’s whopping 72 million iPad sales. However, this Time Warner deal might just help bump the tech-giants popularity a little higher.
Watching TV on your tablet
Now, what is Time Warner’s agenda in this game? Well, since the Samsung Galaxy Tabs of this promotion deal will be preloaded with TWC apps, the goal is for customers to watch TV on their tablets. As stated by the chief marketing officer and executive vice president of Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE: TWC), Jeffrey A. Hirsch, “Samsung Galaxy Tabs are a great way to get more customers to use the TWC TV app so they can enjoy the shows they love in and out of their home.” With this app, you’ll have access to more than 300 live channels and 5,000 TV shows or movies on demand. A good deal?
