In a bid to boost business, several U.S.-based restaurateurs are currently focusing on unit expansion both domestically as well as internationally. Glendale, Calif.-based restaurateur, DineEquity Inc (NYSE:DIN) is also focused on expanding its overall presence.

Recently, the company unveiled its first IHOP branded restaurant in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under a licensing agreement with Alshaya Trading Co., W.L.L.. Alshaya Trading Co. is a provider of commercial equipment for homes and offices.

Alshaya Co. in 2012, DineEquity Inc (NYSE:DIN) and Alshaya have together opened a few units in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates under the IHOP brand. This opening represents the fifth restaurant under this agreement.
