Yesterday we were warned by the dev team not to update to iOS 4.1 as it prevents users from jailbreaking their devices. But alas, we don’t have to worry about that minor inconvenience any more.
iPhone hacker pod2g of Chronic Dev Team has found yet another exploit in the iPhones boot rom which allows you to jailbreak your device yet again. And since it’s in the bootrom, it also means that [...]

Apple have gone ahead and confirmed with us that the iOS 4.1 software update for the iPhone will be coming out on September 8th, for UK customers at least.
The US website still says “Coming Soon” and hasn’t committed to a date as of yet, but I don’t see why Apple would do a staggered roll out of this. What this also means is Apple’s new line of iPods will also become [...]

Contrary to a rumor that appeared yesterday, it seems that iOS4.1 will be providing a fix for the proximity sensor issue that users are experiencing with the iPhone 4. Not only that, but it will also fix issues with Bluetooth and speed up performance on the iPhone 3G which has been very poor.

iOS 4 was rolled out to the iPhone 3G along with the 3GS and of course the iPhone 4. The original iPhone and iPod Touch however didn’t get the update because they weren’t of a high enough spec. Even so, the iPhone 3G was given a limited version of iOS 4, and had no support for multiasking.

I’ve waited patiently through [...]

It seems like only the other day, the first official jailbreak method was released by the dev team, all you had to do was navigate to jailbreakme.com and it would jailbreak your device right from the browser. And of course Apple weren’t too happy with this, but it also showed up a big security flaw in the iOS software, which Apple have promptly fixed.
iOS 4.0.2 has just been released and this [...]

The iOS 4.1 Beta 3 came out just a couple of days ago, and now we’ve had a chance to find out what’s new in it. In this latest edition of the iPhone firmware, Apple have added a new option in in “Contacts” which allows users to make FaceTime calls using a phone number or email address.
So this got us thinking, why would you need to ring an email address…..hmm maybe cause [...]

Not too long ago a iPhone 4 jailbreak was released, all you had to do was visit jailbreakme.com and it would jailbreak your iOS device by taking advantage of a PDF exploit in the iPhone firmware. Since this exploit can easily be adapted for more malicious exploits, you want to be careful with it, and now it looks like when you jailbreak your device using this exploit, you can protect yourself against [...]

Members of Apples iPhone developer program now have access to the most recent build of Apple’s iOS operating system. iOS 4.1 Beta 3 has now landed, only a week after iOS 4.1 Beta 2 did. So this could be a sure sign that a release date is near as Apple tends to accelerate its release cycle coming up to a public release.
What’s new in iOS 4.1 so far?
The Game Center
